The Cabbagetown Group Softball League (CGSL) was founded in 1977 by a group of baseball enthusiasts, many of whom were activists in the gay liberation movement, who had gathered to play at public baseball diamonds in Toronto since 1975. Their mandate was to provide an opportunity for members of the LGBTQ community to play softball in a positive atmosphere, free from discrimination. The league motto was "Gay Pride Through Sports". The CGSL fonds, F0036, a collection of early records created by members of the league's executive committee, is held by the CLGA and includes meeting minutes, financial records, correspondence, event memorabilia, promotional films, photographs, uniforms and buttons. If you played on a team in this league, please consider donating your records to the CLGA.
